Description:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Mission is to Provide vital public engineering services in peace and war to strengthen the Nations security, energize the economy, and reduce risks from disasters. The Engineer Research development Center is one of USACE's commands that provide science, technoogy and expertise in engineering and environmental sciences in support of the Armed Forces and the Nation. Resposibilities include conducting research and development in infrastructure and environmental sustainment; providing navigation support and flood damage reduction of some of the largest inland waterway systems in the country; and maintaining a proper and healthy balance of the varying uses of the heartland's waterways. Other missions include environmental restoration, environmental river engineering water supply, emergency responses to natural disasters, regulatory oversight (issuance of permits and wetland delineation), hydropower, recreation, Ordinance and Explosive Waste Program, and clean up hazardous and toxic waste material
